What is LALIGA Academy

LALIGA's new global initiative to support, promote and bolster grassroots football around the world through its various programmes.

Are they official LALIGA programmes?

Yes, all of the programmes are managed and coordinated fully by LALIGA, with in-house professionals trained in the LALIGA methodology.

Where do these grassroots football programmes take place?

We have programmes around the world, both in Spain and internationally, where LALIGA has developed programmes in 38 countries.

Are the grassroots football programmes open to all levels?

The Camps and Academy programmes are open to all levels, while Talents is an exclusive programme accessed by means of a selection process which takes into account, among other criteria, the player's level and their previous sporting record.

Can I take part if I do not speak Spanish?

Of course. Our programmes are international and are open to all nationalities. Furthermore, our coaches, monitors and tutors speak perfect English so they can communicate with all of the players.

What are the enrolment requirements?

A desire and enthusiasm to learn, improve and enjoy a unique experience, as well as being passionate about football.

Do I need a visa to access the programme? Can you help me obtain one?

LALIGA offers assistance and advice during the process of obtaining a visa, providing all of the official documents which are required.

Nevertheless, LALIGA is not responsible for the duration of the processes or the payments required to obtain a visa.

Main questions about the Talents programme

What kind of players is LALIGA Talents looking for?

The programme is aimed at players with a high level and who demonstrate great potential. Players with a good record at academies and/or professional or semi-professional club academies, and who are capable of training and competing at a high performance level.

What does the programme for young talents include?

  • Education and high-performance training with UEFA Pro coaches under the LALIGA methodology.
  • Between 5 and 12 weekly training sessions run by LALIGA's top coaches, fitness coaches and physios, along with the most innovative technology and resources.
  • Matches against LALIGA club academies and high-performance academies, as well as participation in both national and international not federated tournaments.
  • Trips throughout Spain to meet and compete against the academies of LALIGA clubs and some of the top academies in the world with unique opportunities to get noticed by coaches and scouts.
  • Professional fitness training, video analysis, nutrition, and sports psychology sessions.
  • Monthly and quarterly individual physical assessment, physiotherapy, medical service, injury recovery, and individual performance monitoring and optimisation.

Is the football training programme open to all levels?

To take part in the Talents programme, a selection process is carried out which takes into account the player's playing level and previous record.

How often do the players compete?

The players of LALIGA Talents travel and compete throughout Spain almost every week against the academies of LALIGA clubs and some of the best academies in the world with unique opportunities to get noticed by coaches and scouts. They also take part in national and international tournaments.

How are the training groups of the football training programme arranged?

The groups are arranged based on the players' age and sporting level. Each group must comply with the specific criteria of the LALIGA methodology, with a minimum of 16 players and up to a maximum of 24 per team.

What happens if I do not speak Spanish?

No problem. Our coaches speak perfect English and the sessions are held in the language. Furthermore, the academic programme is taught entirely in English and the students receive weekly Spanish classes.

What is the objective of this programme for young football talents?

The LALIGA Talents programme aims to develop talent and train players to a professional level, generating a context that favours the all-round development of the young players and leads to new opportunities in the future.

What is the admissions process to join the programme?

To begin the process, it is necessary to fill out and submit an online form. An in-house advisor will then contact you by telephone or email to better understand your aspirations and needs, as well as to be able to give you more personal advice.

Are there trials for entry?

Our staff will contact you to explain the requirements and technical qualifications required to form part of the LALIGA Talents programme.

What do the students/players do during their free time?

The daily life of a Talent is similar to that of any LALIGA youth academy player, with special care and attention given to resting and studies, healthy habits and everything involved in invisible training.

On the weekends, cultural and educational excursions and activities are organised in the city of Madrid and the surrounding areas, including tourism visits to the most iconic sites of the city, entry to museums, theme parks and tours around LALIGA stadiums, as well as attending live matches of LALIGA teams.

What happens in an emergency or if urgent medical attention is required?

The relevant emergency services are contacted to assess the patient appropriately, and if necessary they will be taken to the closest hospital. The family will be contacted as soon as the patient is on the way to hospital, and constant and effective communication will be maintained.

The Talents programme includes private medical insurance for each participant, and all transport for any type of medical transfer will also be provided.

What kind of players is the LALIGA Academy looking for?

The programme is aimed at student players who are passionate about football and wish to perfect their abilities and ball skills under the LALIGA methodology. With training adapted to each age group and skill level, the LALIGA Academy guarantees the best way to combine studies with practising football, while experiencing the passion of LALIGA from within.

What does the football academy in Spain include?

  • Education and high-performance training with UEFA Pro coaches under the LALIGA methodology.
  • 4 to 7 weekly training sessions run by LALIGA's top professionals, fitness coaches and physios, along with the most innovative technology and resources.

Is the football academy open to all levels?

The LALIGA Academy is open to all levels. Subsequently, there will be a division into homogeneous levels to ensure the groups function better.

How often do the players compete?

The LALIGA Academy players compete in a guaranteed minimum of two matches a month against LALIGA club academies and other teams. They also take part in national and international tournaments.

How are the training groups arranged?

The groups are arranged based on the age, sporting category and the proficiency of each player.

What happens if I do not speak Spanish?

That’s no problem. Our coaches speak perfect English and the sessions are held in the language. Furthermore, the academic programme is taught entirely in English and the students receive weekly Spanish classes.

What is the objective of the football academy?

Comprehensive training of the players through work on the technical, tactical, physical and psychological abilities needed to improve and take the step up to the next level, all under the LALIGA methodology.

Group leisure activities are organised on a daily basis, such as games, contests, watching films and workshops.

On the weekends, cultural and educational excursions andactivities are organised in the city of Madrid and the surrounding areas, including tourism visits to the mosticonic sites of the city, entry to museums, theme parks andtours around LALIGA stadiums, as well as attending livematches of LALIGA teams.

Main questions about Camps Madrid

What does the Camp programme include?

Our summer camps include:

  • +20 hours of weekly football training, technical talks and seminars about health, nutrition, and physical preparation.
  • High-performance training under the LALIGA methodology, physical assessment and individual evaluation.
  • Specific workshops in English and/or Spanish, personal development activities and training in values.
  • LALIGA stadiums Tours, activities with LALIGA ambassadors, swimming pool, excursions and cultural activities.
  • Residence with full board.
  • Medical insurance for sports practice.
  • Transfers in Spain.
  • LALIGA training kits.
  • What do the Children do at their free time at the football Camp?

    The facilities integrate different sports spaces for children's recreation. A planning will be established with schedules in which the monitors organize games and group activities for the participants.

    In their free time, voluntary recreational activities will be organized for the participants.

    Besides, the times in which participants are allowed to use their mobile devices or tablets to contact their families or play will be established by our monitors.

    Who are the monitors/tutors of the football Camp?

    All our monitors have the necessary training, certifications and qualifications of free time monitors. In addition to a great connection with sport, either being qualified coaches, actives or graduates in sports science.

    Should I give my child money?

    It is not recommended, at LALIGA Camps we offer children all the essential material, products and services to make their stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. So that participants do not have to worry about acquiring any type of product/service on their own.

    Can I change the booking dates?

    Yes, as long as there is availability up to 1 month before the start of the Camps, and at no additional cost.

    What material and equipment does my child have to bring?

    Participants must wear soccer boots, shin guards, goalkeeper gloves (if applicable), sneakers, underwear, swimsuit, towel, flip-flops, complementary street clothes and reusable or disposable masks.

    Does my child need medical insurance?

    It is not necessary, at LALIGA Camps we insure all our participants with accident insurance, and in the event of an incident, the tutor is contacted immediately.

    Can my child attend if he has some kind of disability or illness?

    Yes, as long as the disability does not seriously affect the mobility and integrity of the participant, and they can carry out the physical activities established within the camp.

    Is it possible to cancel enrolment in the football camp?

    In the event that, and as a general rule, the student having been admitted, for voluntary or involuntary reasons or for other circumstances, whether due to fortuitous cause or force majeure, wishes to unsubscribe , the amounts delivered in favor of LALIGA will not be returned without the prior evaluation and approval by its Management, and said circumstance must be communicated in writing through an online instance to the Admissions Department of this entity, and the cancellation form or dismissal established in the terms and conditions of the program.

    The amount related to the reservation of a place or first payment will be refunded, exclusively, in the event that the camp will not be taught because the minimum number of students established by LALIGA has not been enrolled.

    The student who, prior to the beginning of the corresponding academic year or during its course, unilaterally abandons the program due to fortuitous cause or force majeure reliably accredited and in writing, will have the right, after evaluation and approval by the admissions department of LALIGA Academy, to the return of the amounts previously paid for academic fees.

    Refunds to be made due to cancellations will be paid from September 1, 2023. Cancellation must be requested in writing by sending the "CANCELLATION FORM" to the following email: laligaacademy@laliga.es. The aforementioned Form is attached at the end of this Registration Terms and Conditions Document

    How many participants are assigned to each coach?

    In the majority of cases, there is one coach for every 10-15 children.

    Is there a laundry service at LALIGA Camp?

    The ESC Madrid does offer laundry service during the Camps.

    About the academic programme

    Do the LALIGA programmes have academic admission requirements?

    You must accredit level B2 English for 7th Grade students and level C1 for 9th Grade. Furthermore, an average of a pass is required throughout the course in order to ensure the correct academic development of each student. For us it is essential that every student demonstrates adequate performance both on the pitch and in the classroom.

    Are the studies internationally certified and authorised?

    Yes, the students will follow the official American programme for Middle & High School validated internationally. Furthermore, the school is an official centre for the SAT exam for preparing for university. The students will have no problem continuing their studies on their arrival or on their departure.

    How are the class groups arranged?

    The main distribution will be by year of birth in accordance with the corresponding grade, and what is considered most appropriate for the characteristics and needs of each student.

    Because it is a system which is taught almost entirely in English, it will make sense to form groups within each course based on their level of English.

    What happens if my child's level of English is not good enough?

    We offer intensive English classes to reinforce the language and ensure a rapid adaptation to both the programme and the centre. The same academic timetable will apply to the reinforcement classes.

    What is the class timetable?

    An intensive timetable with training sessions in the morning or afternoon. Depending on when the training sessions are held, the class timetable will be adapted to the available hours, but always ensuring a minimum of 5 daily hours of classes.

    How are the classes combined with sport and training?

    The academic studies are adapted to the needs of the player, so the calendar is adapted to allow players to perform double training sessions without interfering with their regular academic studies.

    Will I manage to learn Spanish?

    The influence of Spanish culture, the contact with Spanish speakers and the basics of Spanish taught in the language classes and training sessions ensure rapid learning of the language. Nevertheless, we offer extracurricular Spanish courses through the Cervantes Institute which also offers the possibility of sitting exams and gaining language certificates.

    When does the academic year begin?

    The academic year begins in September and continues until early June, and it is strongly recommended to study the entire course from September to June.

    Nevertheless, it is possible to join at any point in the course, although it is recommended to join before the academic course begins or in January, after the Christmas holidays.

    What happens if my child fails or gets bad grades?

    Repeated fails may necessitate repeating the school year if it is deemed that the basic requirements to pass the course have not been met.

    About the ESC Madrid centre

    Can we visit your facilities?

    The centre will open its doors in 2022, so from that date onwards it will be possible to get to know the experience offered by ESC Madrid first hand.

    Does the ESC Madrid centre have codes of conduct or a visiting schedule?

    The centre requires that everyone behave respectfully and impeccably at all times, both on the pitch and off, including the players, the coaches and the centre's staff. There will be codes of conduct manuals applicable both to the players and staff.

    The ESC Madrid centre reserves the right to suspend or expel anyone who does not follow the basic rules established for living together, behaviour and respect.

    How far away from the airport is it? Is there a transfer service?

    The airport is 42 kilometres (26 miles) away from the centre, meaning that it is a 20-minute trip by car.

    Contracting the Academy or Talents programmes does include transfer services both to and from the airport.

    How are the rooms assigned?

    The children will share a room with fellow students of the same age and sex. In the event that a child would like to share a room with a friend, we can arrange for them to share a room.

    What languages do the monitors and coaches speak?

    The centre's monitors and coaches speak perfect English and can communicate with the players with no problems.

    When can I contact my child by phone or videocall?

    The students/players cannot use their mobiles or electronic devices during training sessions, classes or supervised activities. The students can contact their families during their free time, so they will contact their families to let them know when they are available.

    Where is the nearest hospital?

    The hospital nearest the centre is Rey Juan Carlos and is located at a distance of 10 km, a 10 minute car trip.

    About life at the centre

    What is the food like and are there menus adapted to children with special needs or allergies?

    The centre offers a wide variety of options and foods for students, with nutritional plans adapted for each player. It is important for families to notify us in advance of their children's special requirements, before their arrival. During enrolment of the student/player, their parents or guardians will be asked to clearly state any allergies or special nutritional needs.

    What happens during public holidays and holidays?

    The centre offers the possibility of returning to their countries of origin during the Christmas holidays or during special festivities. Nevertheless, a programme of special activities is maintained for players who remain at the centre.

    Can families visit the children at the centre?

    Yes, but we ask that you inform us of the visit in advance and tell us for how long. You will be informed in due course about the protocols for visits, limited exclusively to close family members.

    Will families receive any kind of accommodation when visiting their children?

    The centre does not have rooms available for families during their visits.
